Terms of Service

Effective: September 3, 2026

These Terms govern your use of criti.pics (the “Service”), operated by critipics (the “Operator”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

The Service lets users upload photos, rate other users’ photos, and see the scores their own photos receive. The Operator may change or discontinue all or part of the Service at any time. Material changes will be announced within the Service.

2. Accounts

1. You need an account, created with an email address, to use the Service. Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth.
2. You are responsible for keeping your account information accurate and your credentials secure. All activity under your account is your responsibility.
3. You must be at least 14 years old to create an account.
4. Creating multiple accounts to manipulate ratings or credits is prohibited.

3. Credits (stars, pics)

1. The Service uses two kinds of credits. stars are spent when you rate a photo. pics are spent when you upload a photo.
2. New accounts receive 5 stars and 3 pics. Each photo you upload grants 10 stars. pics refill at a rate of one every 20 minutes, up to a maximum of 3.
3. If you delete a photo you uploaded, the 10 stars granted for it are taken back. Your stars balance may become negative as a result.
4. Credits have no monetary value and cannot be refunded, transferred, or exchanged for cash. The Operator may change how credits are granted to keep the Service working well.

4. Ratings

1. Ratings range from 0.5 to 5 in steps of 0.5. You cannot rate your own photos.
2. After you rate or edit a rating, it is locked for 7 days.
3. You may cancel a rating at any time. Once cancelled, that photo can never be rated by you again. Cancellation counts are recorded for quality-control purposes.
4. A photo’s score is not a simple average. It is a weighted average that takes the rater’s rating history into account. The formula may be adjusted without prior notice.

5. Your Content

1. You keep the copyright to photos you upload. You grant the Operator a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, transmit, display, resize, convert, and generate previews of your photos for the purpose of providing the Service. This licence ends when the photo or your account is deleted, except that cached copies may persist for a limited time.
2. You warrant that you hold all rights necessary to upload each photo.
3. Uploaded photos are automatically resized and converted to webp. Metadata such as location data is removed. Original files are not retained.
4. Uploaded photos are visible to everyone, including visitors who are not logged in.

6. Prohibited Conduct

The following is prohibited. Violations may result in removal of content, revocation of credits, or suspension or deletion of your account without prior notice.

• Uploading photos that infringe copyright, image rights, privacy, or other rights of others
• Uploading child sexual abuse material, sexually explicit content, violent or hateful content, or otherwise illegal content
• Uploading photos of other people taken without their consent
• Manipulating ratings or credits with multiple accounts, automation, or bots
• Interfering with the operation or security of the Service
• Uploading for advertising or spam purposes

7. Reports and Enforcement

You can report inappropriate photos with the report button on a photo page. The Operator may remove any content it considers to violate these Terms, whether or not it was reported. Credits granted for removed photos may be revoked.

8. Deleting Your Account

You can delete your account at any time from the account page. Deleting your account permanently and immediately removes your photos, ratings, credits, and account data. This cannot be undone. Ratings you gave are removed from the scores of the photos concerned.

9. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

1. The Service is provided “as is”. The Operator does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation or the preservation of data.
2. The Operator is not responsible for content uploaded by users and has no obligation to intervene in disputes between users or with third parties.
3. To the extent permitted by law, the Operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, or special damages arising from use of the Service.

10. Changes to These Terms

The Operator may change these Terms. Changes take effect when posted within the Service. Changes that are unfavourable to users will be announced at least 7 days before they take effect. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Disputes will be brought before the courts having jurisdiction under the Korean Civil Procedure Act.
